Elder George Dugger, the fifth of ten children, was born to Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Clyde Dugger on December 24, 1919, in Batesville, Mississippi.
Bro. Dugger was raised in a Christian home, and at the age of 14, he professed a hope in Christ, but not being taught the truth of God's word, he drifted back into sin. Bro. Dugger often said that even though he was in sin, he continued to go to church and professed to be a Christian.
At the age of 20, he was inducted into the Armed Services. He served his country for three years, and returned to Batesville after he completed his tour of duty. He met and married Corrine Johnson in 1944.
He later moved to Chicago with his wife. Because he was a "Christian," he joined a church, yet living in sin. It was through his sister, who had been saved at the Drexel Church of God, that he came into the true knowledge of the word of God. He met Pastor Gordon and some of the Saints and felt the love with the word of God.
Elder Dugger saw the need of accepting Christ into his life the Bible way and repented of his sins. Bro. Dugger and his wife, who was saved, were the parents of ten children. Bro. & Sis. Dugger raised their family up in the fear of God, teaching them the way of salvation and how to love each other.
Bro. Dugger lived a sanctified life, dedicated to God and God saw his faithfulness. God soon gave him a calling. He was to "Go preach my gospel, and proclaim it on the housetop". Bro. Dugger obeyed God, preaching the gospel under the leadership of Pastor Gordon. He was a faithful Sunday School Superintendent and Minister. Later, he was blessed to become the Assistant Pastor of the Drexel Church of God.
Bro. Dugger always had a word of cheer with food for thought. One of his sayings was "Close your mouth soldier. Run it out; you can make it!"
Bro. Dugger ran it out, taking his flight to glory in December 1990.
